How do I log a meal?

Tap the + button on the main screen to add a food. You can search the database, scan a barcode (Pro), or enter nutrition info manually. Once added, the item appears in your daily log and your % Daily Value totals update instantly.

What does the % Daily Value mean?

The % Daily Value (DV) tells you how much a nutrient in a serving contributes to a full day's intake. 5% DV or less is considered low; 20% DV or more is considered high. DailyLabel uses the FDA's standard 2,000-calorie reference diet for all calculations — the same values printed on food labels.

Why does a value turn red?

When you exceed 100% of a nutrient's daily value, it turns red — mirroring how a Nutrition Facts label highlights nutrients to limit (like sodium or saturated fat). It's a quick visual cue, not a medical warning.

Is my data backed up?

Yes. If iCloud is enabled on your device, DailyLabel automatically syncs your log to your private iCloud account via CloudKit. Your data is only accessible to you — DailyLabel and BitTech LLC have no access to it.

To confirm iCloud sync is on, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud and make sure DailyLabel is toggled on.

How do I delete a logged item?

Swipe left on any item in your daily log to reveal the Delete button, then tap Delete to remove it.

Does DailyLabel work on iPad?

DailyLabel is designed for iPhone and requires iOS 16 or later. It will run on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode, though it is not yet optimized for the larger screen.

What's included in the free version vs. Pro?

The free version includes daily nutrition logging, manual food entry, daily reminders, and iCloud sync. The Pro upgrade ($4.99 one-time) adds barcode scanning and full label history. There is no subscription — Pro is yours forever once purchased.

Why don't the Daily Values adjust for my age or sex?

The default % Daily Values in DailyLabel are based on the FDA's standard reference values for a general adult population — the same numbers printed on every food label. These are intentionally universal so your in-app progress matches what you see on packaging.

That said, recommended intakes do vary by age and sex. For example, adult women need significantly more iron than adult men, and calcium needs increase with age. If you want DailyLabel to reflect your personal targets, you can customize the Daily Value goal for any individual nutrient in the app's settings. This lets you set your own iron, calcium, sodium, or any other target without the app making assumptions about your health profile.
